Idaho 75 construction north of Shoshone to begin in mid-May
SHOSHONE – Work to build a new roadway and construct three new bridges on Idaho 75 between Shoshone and Mammoth Cave Road is expected to begin in mid-May, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is expect to be completed by July 2013.
When complete, the project will realign the highway east of the current route, beginning at the north Shoshone city limits. Three new bridges will also be constructed to span the Milner/Gooding Canal, Big Wood River and North Gooding Canal.
There will be minimal impact to through-traffic during the work's early stages as crews perform base and bridge construction. During the first two months of work, the contractor will be performing rock blasting which will cause occasional delays of as much as 30 minutes. Construction of the bridges and road base will continue through early 2013.
In the later stages of construction, drivers will experience regular delays for paving of the new roadway and its ties into the existing roadway.
When the new roadway is complete, the existing roadway will be demolished and bridges will be removed.
Idaho Sand and Gravel Inc., of Jerome, is the contractor for the $13.2 million reconstruction project.
