I-84 paving project in Cassia County to begin Sunday
BURLEY – Crews will begin a roadway resurfacing project on Interstate 84 in eastern Cassia County beginning Sunday (May 6), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project will repair rutting and potholes as well as restore surface smoothness.
Work is expected to be complete by the end of June.
Drivers can expect minor delays. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with speed limits lowered to 45 mph and a 14-foot width restriction in effect through the work zone.
The paving project, which affects the eastbound lanes of I-84 only, begins south of the Cotterell Rest Area (milepost 229) and extends just south of the Idahome Interchange (Exit 237).
Work will include grinding off about two inches of asphalt followed by paving with two layers of new asphalt plantmix. The paving will be followed up by a chip-seal coat.
Knife River Corp., of Boise, is the contractor for the $2.9 million project.
