U.S. 2 near Sandpoint expected to reopen Thursday morning (Jan. 19)
SANDPOINT - Crews are expected to reopen U.S. 2 on the west side of Sandpoint Thursday morning (Jan. 19), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The highway was closed last Thursday (Jan. 12) when when erosion from record rainfall in the area caused the collapse of two 48-inch drainage pipes at the bottom of the enbankment.
Workers have finished paving and striping and have started installing new guardrail for the highway.
