Paving near Rupert begins Monday

RUPERT – A roadway resurfacing project on Idaho 25 east from Rupert to the junction with Interstate 84 is expected to begin Monday (May 14), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The paving project will begin with milling at each end of the project, at the Baseline Road intersection and near the Snake River Bridge beginning at the intersection of 100 East Road. Pending an approved asphalt test strip, paving of the project is expected to begin in about a week.

The roadway will be reduced to one lane during work hours. A pilot car will be in operation and drivers should watch for flaggers throughout the construction zone. A speed-limit reduction to 45 mph will be in effect.

The paving portion of the work is expected to be completed by mid-June and is to be followed by a chip-seal coat. All work is expected to be complete by June 20.

Kloepfer Inc., of Paul, is the contractor for $1.07 million project.
