Travel restrictions in place on Idaho 39 near American Falls
POCATELLO – A project to repair the Lower Dam Bridge on Idaho 39 near American Falls will continue through July and has resulted in travel restrictions over the dam.
The eastbound bridge is closed to traffic, and vehicles are redirected to the westbound dam bridge. A single lane of travel is open in both directions, but vehicles are limited to a maximum width of 11 feet until Aug. 1.
Local growers can move loads through the work zone between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. when flaggers are in place. For transport outside of that two-hour period, contact the project contractor at (208) 534-4618 to arrange for special accommodations. Those accommodations will require several hours of advance notice to enable flagging crews to plan for the wider loads.
Haulers should look for alternate routes if planning daytime transports.
Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through the construction zone, drive at posted speeds and follow the direction of flaggers when operations are in place.
