Installation of new signs on U.S. 20 north of Idaho Falls and in Rexburg to start Monday (June 4)

RIGBY - New signs are on the way. Installation of new signs on U.S. 20 north of Idaho Falls and in Rexburg starts Monday (June 4), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Installations are scheduled for completion July 15.

Crews will replace 23 old guide signs (direction, distance, service, point of interest) with larger, more reflective ones meeting current visibility standards. Signs are along approaches to the Lewisville and Rexburg interchanges (exits 310 and 333).

During construction, travel intermittently will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph. Commercial vehicles wider than 16 feet that want to pass through need to contact construction engineer Wade Allen (208-745-5680) 24 hours before arriving at the construction zone.

Motorists should anticipate merging traffic and watch for construction workers and equipment. They should obey all traffic signs.

Work will begin along eastbound U.S. 20 north of Idaho Falls. Installations in Rexburg will start later in the week.

The transportation department awarded BECO Construction Co. Inc., of Idaho Falls, the $92,000 contract. If you need further information, please contact the department at (208) 745-5611.
