100 South overpass closing for bridge work starting Monday

JEROME – Crews will begin a bridge resurfacing project on the 100 South Road where it crosses Interstate 84 on Monday (June 18) and closing the roadway for up to five weeks, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will begin Monday to remove the existing asphalt and concrete surface of the bridge. It will be replaced by a silca-fume concrete driving surface. Crews will also be replacing the bridge guardrail and performing other bridge maintenance.

The overpass, located near the Jerome Cheese plant, will be closed for up to five weeks while work is completed. All traffic will be required to use an alternate route. The work is not expected to impact traffic on Interstate 84.

The 100 South Road overpass is one of 12 bridges throughout southern Idaho included in this contract. Cannon Builders Inc., of Blackfoot, is the contractor for the $2.5 million project. ITD received approval from the Jerome Highway District to close the roadway for the duration of the work.
