Open house for U.S. 95 Wyoming Avenue to Ohio Match Road Project to be held Thursday (Feb. 9)
COEUR D'ALENE - The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is seeking public input on proposed roadway improvements to U.S. Highway 95 from Wyoming Avenue to Ohio Match Road and a proposed interchange at the U.S. 95/Lancaster Road intersection.

An open house will be held Thursday, (Feb. 9), from 4-7 p.m., at ITD's District office, 600 W. Prairie Ave.  The public will be able to view displays explaining the project, ask questions, and provide comments to guide the development of the project.

The project includes constructing U.S. 95 to a divided four-lane highway from just north of Wyoming Avenue through to Ohio Match Road.  It also includes replacing the existing at-grade Lancaster Road intersection with an interchange.

Kootenai County is experiencing significant growth and development.  Increasing traffic volumes along U.S. 95 cause delays for both highway and cross-street traffic.  Safety and congestion on Lancaster Road are of particular concern because of developments planned along its length in the U.S. 95 vicinity.

Traffic volumes at U.S. 95/Lancaster intersection are forecasted to overwhelm the at-grade intersection. Several interchange alternatives will be presented at the meeting that will provide safe traffic operation while minimizing the right-of-way required for construction.

The Idaho Transportation Department and its team members strongly encourage the public to help address these issues.  Design of U.S. 95 and the Lancaster Interchange will occur from 2006 through 2007.  For more information on this project, please contact Rick Bailey at the Idaho Transportation Department, (208) 772-1285 or rick.bailey@itd.idaho.gov.
