Replacement of pedestrian bridge on Idaho 3 to begin Monday (July 23)
LEWISTON – Removal and replacement of a pedestrian bridge over Big Bear Creek near Kendrick High School is scheduled to begin Monday (July 23), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The pedestrian bridge is located between mileposts 13 and 14 on Idaho Highway 3 in Latah County.
Removal and replacement will require the bridge to be closed overnight on two dates – July 27 and Aug. 9 – from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Motorists who normally use the route should expect a detour to be in place on both days. Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible during most of the construction.
With the exception of the overnight closures, crews will work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the route will be reduced to a single lane of traffic during part of the project.
Flaggers will direct traffic through the work area.
West Company Inc. of Airway Heights, Wash., is the contractor for the $162,000 state-funded project.
Construction should be completed by Aug. 20 to accommodate school pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
