Project under way to improve Nampa’s E. Franklin Road
NAMPA - A project under way will improve E. Franklin Road in Nampa with widening, resurfacing and a roundabout to more efficiently move traffic. The work is jointly sponsored by the Idaho Transportation Department, city of Nampa and Nampa Highway District #1.
Wider Roadway and New Asphalt
From just east of Star Road to
McDermott Road, Nampa Highway District #1, who is also funding this
portion of the overall project, is pulverizing the existing deteriorated
roadway and installing new asphalt.
The deteriorated
segment of E. Franklin Road from N. Gate to Star Road will be removed
and replaced with new asphalt. The north side will be widened and
curb/gutter will be added. The project is funded through a city of Nampa
public/private partnership.
To minimize disruptions
to local business, residents, and commuter traffic, the projects will
start at the same time in late August. The Intersection of Star Road and
E. Franklin Road will be closed from late August to October.
E.
Franklin Road from N. Gate Boulevard to McDermott Road and Star Road,
just east and west of the intersection, will also be closed during this
time.
Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes during the
closure. City of Nampa will work with businesses in the area to meet their needs and reduce
disruption as much as possible.
New Roundabout (estimated start Sept. 4)
The existing four-way stop at Star Road and E. Franklin Road will be replaced with a more efficient roundabout intersection. The project is funded through federal and city of Nampa dollars and administered through the Idaho Transportation Department.
If you have questions, please contact the city of Nampa’s public outreach coordinator at 468-5523 for general information. Specific questions about the projects can be referred to the city of Nampa Engineering Department at 468-5458.
