Idaho 97 to close for repairs Friday and Monday (July 27th & 30th)with traffic detoured onto local roads

COEUR d’ALENE – State maintenance crews will repair a shoulder slide on Idaho 97 at milepost 81, which will require  closing the highway and detouring traffic onto the local road system, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Recent heavy rains caused the shoulder of the roadway to slide.

The closures will be from Friday (July 27) to Monday (July 30). The detour will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day to avoid morning and afternoon commuter traffic. The five-mile detour will run on Burma Road to Carlin Bay Road.

The highway will be open to two-way traffic over the weekend. Message signs will be located at I-90 to the north and Harrison to the south, warning motorists of the detour. Flaggers will be stationed at each detour to provide motorists with information and directions.
