City of Cambridge to Improve Superior Street North of U.S. 95
CAMBRIDGE - The City of Cambridge will host a public information meeting Monday, Feb. 27 to discuss proposed street and pedestrian improvements to Superior Street and obtain public input.  The meeting will be held at the Cambridge City Hall, 80 S. Superior St. in Cambridge, between 4 and 7 p.m.  A brief presentation on the preliminary design for the project will be given at 4:30 p.m. and again at 6:00 p.m.  An opportunity for questions and comments will follow each presentation.

Improvements are proposed between Central Boulevard (U.S. 95) and the three-way intersection of Mill Road, Cemetery Road, and Superior Street.  The project is intended to reduce current roadway hazards, improve road and drainage conditions, and increase safety for vehicles and pedestrians.  Proposed improvements include the following:

-Replace existing sidewalks and installing curb and gutter within city limits,
    -Improve street surfacing,
-Widen and replace a narrow culvert at Rush Creek,
    -Install storm drainage, and
-Improve roadway geometrics and sight distances on streets approaching the three-way intersection.

The project is currently in the preliminary design phase, which includes preparation of an environmental evaluation assessing the potential effects of the improvements.  After the Feb. 27th public meeting, the City of Cambridge will complete the project design.  Another public information meeting is scheduled for late 2006 to present the final project design and discuss the construction schedule.  Construction is anticipated to take place in late 2007 or early 2008.
