Work on Ashton Bridge on U.S. 20 starts Monday (Aug. 20)

RIGBY - Work on the Ashton Bridge on U.S. 20 will begin Monday (Aug. 20) and is scheduled to be finished the following Saturday (Aug. 25), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will replace beam seats, install keeper plates, seal the deck and waterproof the parapet. The Ashton Bridge spans the Warm River three miles north of Ashton.

Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles per hour. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed.

Commercial drivers transporting permitted loads wider than 14 feet need to contact Resident Engineer Matt Davison (208-745-5686) 24 hours in advance for special authorization to pass through the construction zone.

Motorists should watch for construction workers, equipment and obey all traffic signs.

The transportation department awarded the $887,000 contract to Braun-Jensen Inc., of Payette, which includes work on Osborne, Pond's Lodge and Mack’s Inn bridges in Island Park.
