City of Payette seeks public input on 7th Avenue North project at public hearing
PAYETTE - A hearing to record testimony on the preferred alternative for the 7th Avenue North project is scheduled for Thursday (Mar. 2) from 4 7 p.m. at Payette City Hall, 700 Center St.

The City of Payette proposes to widen 7th Avenue North from the intersection of 11th Street to Iowa Avenue to accommodate increasing traffic.   Construction of the McCain Middle School on Iowa Avenue is anticipated to substantially increase vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic on 7th Avenue North.

The project will include:

Widening the roadway to include a center-turn lane and parking and sidewalks on both sides of 7th Avenue North between 11th Street and Iowa Avenue.

Constructing a curb, gutter and storm drainage system and relocating water and sewer lines throughout the length of the project.

Constructing bike lanes on both sides of 7th Avenue North east of U.S. 95 and replacing the existing bridge spanning the Lower Payette Ditch with a wider structure to accommodate bike lanes and sidewalks.

Constructing paved shoulders on both sides of 7th Avenue North west of U.S. 95 for use by pedestrians and bicyclists.

Displays illustrating the preferred alternative and other project information will be available for review at the hearing.  Project staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Copies of the draft environmental evaluation are available for review at Payette City Hall.  Written testimony, statements, or exhibits pertaining to the 7th Avenue North Project will be considered if postmarked by March 16, 2006.  Address any such items to: Gwen Smith, Public Involvement Coordinator, P.O. Box 7129, Boise, ID 83707-1129
