U.S. 20 bridge project in Island Park starts Tuesday (Sept. 4)

RIGBY - Work on Pond’s Lodge and Mack’s Inn bridges on U.S. 20 in Island Park will begin Tuesday (Sept. 4), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is scheduled for completion in mid-October.

Crews will resurface the bridges, which are located near milepost 387 and 393. Pond’s Lodge Bridge spans the Buffalo River and Mack’s Inn Bridge spans the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River.

Motorists can expect brief delays. Travel will be reduced to one lane, with portable signals directing traffic through the construction zones.

Commercial drivers transporting permitted loads wider than 18 feet need to contact Resident Engineer Matt Davison (208-745-5686) 24 hours in advance for special authorization to pass through the work zones.

Drivers should watch for construction workers, equipment and obey all traffic signs.

The transportation department awarded the $887,000 contract to Braun-Jensen Inc., of Payette, which includes work on Osborne and Ashton bridges to the south on U.S. 20.
