Project in summer of 2014 will resurface sections of U.S. 95 in Washington County
BOISE - A pair of projects scheduled for 2014 will resurface a section of U.S. 95 in Washington County, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
A thin layer of new pavement will be added to a 13.95-mile stretch of highway, from just south of Manns Creek to Shoepeg Road, and a more in-depth treatment on the 9.7-mile stretch from Cambridge to the Alpine Store is planned. That segment of highway will receive be milled (the top layer ground off) followed by a Cement Recycled Asphalt Base Stabilization (CRABS) process.
CRABS involves pulverizing the existing roadway down to the gravel base, then adding cement to the pulverized material, and placing a new surface of asphalt pavement.
The project is expected to take about two months, with weekend work prohibited and nighttime work not anticipated.
Work on the two-lane road will restrict traffic to a single lane controlled by flaggers and pilot car as needed. It will reopen to one lane in each direction during non-working hours.
