Highway officials to slow night traffic on northbound I-15 south of Idaho Falls Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 22-24)

RIGBY - Highway officials will slow night traffic on northbound Interstate 15 between Rose Road (Exit 98) five miles north of Blackfoot and Idaho Falls Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 22-24), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Idaho State Police and ITD pilot cars will slow traffic intermittently to 25 miles per hour or less between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., creating a recurring 20-minute gap in traffic as construction crews south of Idaho Falls remove the old Pancheri Drive overpass. Motorists should expect repeated 20-minute delays in travel time.

On-ramps in the slow-down area between Rose Road (Exit 98) and the work area near Idaho Falls (Exit 118) will be blocked as pilot vehicles pass, with flaggers directing traffic on the on-ramps.

Travel in the construction zone will be reduced to one lane. Commercial drivers transporting permitted loads wider than 14 feet need to contact Resident Engineer Wade Allen (208-745-5680) 24 hours in advance for special authorization to pass through the construction zone.

Motorists should anticipate merging traffic, watch for pilot cars and flaggers, and obey all traffic signs.
The new Pancheri Drive overpass under construction just south of the old one is expected to be complete in early November, with seal coating planned in 2013.
