Slope maintenance to improve safety along U.S. 93 south of North Fork begins Monday afternoon (Oct. 29)
RIGBY - Slope maintenance to improve motorist safety along U.S. 93 south of North Fork near milepost 324 will begin this afternoon (Monday, Oct. 29), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project is scheduled for completion Nov. 16, weather permitting.
Working approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, crews will remove rock, dirt and tree limbs from ledges cut into the mountainside to catch rockfall. The project will be two miles south of North Fork on a quarter-mile section of U.S. 93.
A bulldozer will push debris from the ledges onto the road, after which crews will remove it. It has been 15 years since ITD cleaned these ledges, which are now full.
Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Drivers should watch for construction workers and equipment.
