Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard intersection improvements begin Wednesday night (Nov. 28)

MERIDIAN – The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will activate a new traffic signal at Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard Wednesday night (Nov. 28). The intersection will be widened and reconfigured, the free-running right-turn in the southeast corner will be closed and the old signal poles will be removed.

All construction will be done at night and is weather dependent. When complete, the improvements will preserve the surface of Eagle Road, relieve congestion and improve safety on the heavily traveled corridor.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. At least one lane in each direction will remain open, and access to all businesses will be maintained.

Beginning Saturday (Dec. 1) morning, ITD will open the new dedicated right-turn lanes at the southeast and northeast corners of the intersection.

Over the next couple of weeks, crews will place medians on Chinden Boulevard near the intersection, pave the Chinden Boulevard intersection and finish installing curb, gutter and sidewalks.

ITD is scheduled to complete the Eagle Road Construction project by mid-December.

For more information about the project, please check the Eagle Road Improvement Project page on ITD’s project website. Go to itd.idaho.gov, click on Projects, then Southwest Idaho, then Eagle Road Construction.
