Karcher Interchange requires lane restrictions on Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard beginning Monday; Karcher Road closes Wednesday
NAMPA - Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the intersection of Karcher Road beginning Monday (March 13) and lasting until fall for construction of the Karcher Interchange, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

In addition, Karcher Road will be closed between Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard and Nampa Boulevard beginning Wednesday (March 15).

The lane restrictions on Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard and the closure of Karcher Road will allow crews to:
  •     Reconstruct the intersection in preparation for the new Karcher Interchange
  •     Retrofit the bridge rail on the existing Karcher Road/I-84 overpass
  •     Realign and construct the Karcher Connector which ties Karcher Road to the new Idaho 55/Karcher Road Connector
  •     Construct the cul-de-sac for Karcher Road (where Karcher Road intersects Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard)

The city of Nampa will also work on Karcher Road during this time to widen it between Northside Boulevard and the Karcher Connector. Crews also will install a traffic light at Karcher Road and the Karcher Connector.

Local business access will be allowed on Karcher Road. Through traffic will be detoured to Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard, Nampa Boulevard, Cherry Lane and Midland Road. Karcher Road is expected to reopen to through traffic in mid-summer.

Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard will have lane restrictions until the fall. There will be no center turn lane on Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard in the project area. Business access will be maintained at all times.

When complete, the Karcher Interchange will provide a new access to Interstate 84, benefit traffic flow in this growing area of Canyon County and provide better direct access to Idaho 55.

Central Paving Co. of Boise is the contractor on this $30 million project.
