Preliminary work taking place along Idaho 75 to prepare for spring reconstruction
KETCHUM – In preparation for the reconstruction of Idaho 75 from Timber Way to the Big Wood River bridge, preliminary work has started to clear portions of the new highway right of way near Hospital Drive, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Drivers and residents should watch for crews that have begun cutting and chipping trees and clearing other obstacles within the existing and newly purchased right of way. The work is expected to be completed by Jan. 18, weather permitting.
The construction of the 3.26-mile project is expected to begin this spring to reconstruct the roadway into a five-lane roadway with turn bays and a new traffic signal at Hospital Drive. The job will be advertised to potential contractors in February and is expected to start when weather allows.
Traffic-impacting activities are expected to begin in mid-April. The project is expected to be completed in 2013, but could be to early 2014 if excessive inclement weather is encountered during construction.
