Construction to begin on I-15 bridges over Clark Street in Pocatello
POCATELLO - The Interstate 15 passing lanes over Clark Street in Pocatello will be closed Tuesday as work begins on two new interstate bridges over the street, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Construction crews are expected to finish placing traffic control signs Tuesday and begin building crossovers that will shift traffic to the southbound lanes of the interstate. The new crossovers should be completed in early April and demolition of the northbound bridge to commence soon after.

When the crossovers are in place, the interstate speed limit will be reduced through the construction zone and I-15 traffic will be limited to a single lane in both directions. The restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the project, which is expected to continue into the 2007 construction season. Work tentatively is scheduled for 10-hours per day on weekdays and is expected to impact morning and evening commutes.

Motorists should anticipate traffic delays and may want to look for an alternate route.

Cannon Builders of Blackfoot is contractor on this $5.8 million project.
