Cotterell Rest Area closing for reconstruction beginning Tuesday
BURLEY – The Cotterell Rest Area on Interstate 84 in eastern Cassia County will close for reconstruction beginning Tuesday (April 2), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Cotterell Port of Entry facilities also will be closed during most of the reconstruction.
The Cotterell Rest Area, located at milepost 229, will be reconstructed to improve and modernize traveler facilities. Work should be completed by mid-November
Upgrades include new restroom facilities, lighting, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-accessible facilities, and refurbished and environmentally updated wastewater lagoons. The exit and entrance ramps also will be reconstructed and lengthened to meet highway standards.
The Cotterell Port of Entry facilities will remain unchanged, but the port will be closed during most of the construction period. It also will close on Tuesday and should reopen no later than Aug. 15.
Knife River Corp., of Boise, is the contractor for the $5.6 million project.
