Sections of I-84B in Caldwell to be resurfaced this summer
BOISE - A resurfacing project on I-84B in Caldwell, from the interstate to 10th Avenue, is expected to begin in late May or early June. The work is expected to finish by late summer.
The project also will improve pedestrian ramps in the project area. Forty-four ramps will be upgraded to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.
This will be a mill-and-inlay project, with Superpave HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt) technology used to remove the top three inches of roadway surface. A quarter-mile of Centennial Way, a three-quarter mile section of Cleveland Boulevard and a half-mile piece of Blaine Street will be resurfaced. Some high curbing will be replaced with lower-profile curbing to reduce door strikes.
Traffic in the two-lane section will be reduced to one lane during construction. The westbound off-ramp at Centennial Way also will be closed for a few days to place concrete pavement and allow time for the new concrete to properly cure.
C&A Paving Co., of Boise, is the prime contractor on this $1.2 million project.
