Signal at Linder Road and Idaho 44 will be turned off Tuesday night as crews shift traffic

EAGLE – The traffic signal at Idaho 44 and Linder Road will not operate Tuesday night (May 14) while crews shift northbound and southbound traffic on Linder Road to the east.

The work is part of the Idaho Transportation Department's Linder Road to Ballantyne Lane improvement project on Idaho 44. ITD began the project in November 2012. Completion is expected by this fall.

The intersection will be restricted to one lane at various times Tuesday night. Flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday. The signal will return to operation Wednesday morning.

The traffic shift on Linder Road will remain in place the next several months so crews can widen and rebuild the intersection.

When complete, the new intersection will have two through lanes on Idaho 44, double left-turn bays on Linder Road and right-turn lanes at all four sides of the intersection. Idaho 44 also will be widened to five lanes between W. State Street and Linder Road.

Intersection improvements will improve safety, reduce congestion and allow smoother traffic flow.

Safety is ITD’s highest priority. The best thing that drivers can do when passing through the construction zone is to slow down, pay attention and allow extra time.
