Construction on Idaho 33 (Main Street and 2nd East) in Rexburg starts today (May 20)
RIGBY - Construction on Idaho 33 (Main Street and 2nd East) in Rexburg began today (Monday, May 20), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-June.
Crews will replace broken pavement on Idaho 33 between U.S. 20 (Exit 333) and the Madison County Courthouse on Main Street and between Main Street and Walmart on 2nd East, a distance of about two miles.
Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. During construction, the highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
Commercial transporters hauling loads wider than 12 feet need to contact maintenance operations manager Ken Hahn, at (208) 745-5640, or staff engineer Tracy Bono, at (208) 745-5619, 24 hours in advance for special authorization to travel through the construction zone.
Drivers should expect delays, merging traffic, uneven surfaces, and construction workers and equipment in the work zone.
When traveling through the area, motorists should comply with all traffic signs and directions from flaggers where present.
Crews will not work Monday through Friday of Memorial Day week, but will return on Monday, June 3. The transportation department will apply a polymer-modified asphalt seal and stripes Idaho 33 in Rexburg later this year.
