Patriot Thunder motorcycle ride Sunday (June 2) may cause traffic delays
BOISE - The fourth annual Patriot Thunder motorcycle ride makes its way across a portion of the Treasure Valley this Sunday (June 2).
The Idaho Transportation Department wants motorists to be alerted to potential road delays caused by the event, as it is expected to involve up to 1,000 riders. To avoid any travel complications, drivers are encouraged to travel before or after the event.
The Patriot Thunder ride benefits three organizations with a focus on thanking those who have served and are serving in the military, as well as showing appreciation for their families.
The ride will begin at High Desert Harley Davidson in Meridian at 11 a.m. Riders will travel to the Mountain Home area on Interstate 84, arriving at approximately 12:30 p.m. at Exit 95. The group will then take Idaho 51 to Carl Miller Park for event presentations.
Riders will leave Mountain Home at 1:30 p.m. and return to the Treasure Valley area at about 3 p.m. Idaho State Police will escort the ride and will not allow any traffic to break the formation of the riders. The event will conclude at the War Hawk Museum in Nampa at approximately 5 p.m.
ITD will use electronic signs along the route to alert motorists to the impacts.
