Eight miles of Interstate 84 work to begin Friday in eastern Cassia County

BURLEY – Crews will begin a resurfacing project on Interstate 84 in eastern Cassia County Friday (June 7), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project will repair rutting and potholing, and restore surface smoothness.

Drivers can expect lower speed limits and minor delays.

The paving project, which affects the eastbound lanes of I-84 only, begins at the south side of the Idahome Interchange (Exit 237) and extends through the Sublett Interchange (Exit 245). Traffic will be reduced to one lane with the speed limit reduced to 65 mph and a 14-foot width restriction in place through the work zone.

Work will include grinding about two inches of asphalt, followed by paving two layers of new asphalt surface. The paving will be followed by a chip-seal coat. The paving work is expected to be complete by the end of June, with the seal coat to follow later in the summer.

Western Construction, of Boise, is the contractor for the $2.6 million project.
