UPDATE: Resurfacing on Caldwell’s I-84 Business Loop set to begin mid-June

BOISE - A section of the I-84 Business Loop in Caldwell, from Interstate 84 to 10th Avenue, is scheduled to be resurfaced starting Monday (June 17), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Three segments will be affected – Cleveland Boulevard, Centennial Way and Blaine Street.

Click here for a map of locations.

This will be a mill-and-inlay project, with Superpave HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt) technology used to remove the top three inches of roadway surface. A quarter-mile of Centennial Way, a three-quarter mile section of Cleveland Boulevard and a half-mile piece of Blaine Street will be resurfaced. Some high curbing will be replaced with lower-profile curbing to reduce door strikes.

The project also will address 44 ramps to make them compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Crews are planning to work a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule Monday through Friday. Weekend work is not anticipated, but is not prohibited if necessary.

Traffic in the two-lane section will be reduced to one lane during construction. Flaggers will be used on cross streets during milling and paving operations and to move equipment in and out of the work area. No pilot cars or temporary signals are expected.

The westbound off-ramp at Centennial Way also will be closed for up to a week to place concrete pavement and allow time for the new concrete to properly cure. A detour will be announced during that portion of the project.

C & A Paving Co., of Boise, is the contractor on this $1.2 million project.
