Weigh-in-motion upgrade to impact U.S. 95 traffic near Lewiston Tuesday
LEWISTON - Northbound U.S. 95 south of Lewiston will be reduced to a single lane Tuesday (June 11) for installation of pavement sensors for the Port of Entry weigh-in-motion system, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
ITD is upgrading the existing weigh-in-motion system for northbound U.S.
95 commercial vehicles. It will make weighing more efficient and
minimize the impact on commerce. The Lewiston Port of Entry does not provide weigh-in-motion services for
southbound traffic, but ITD plans to add the capabilities later this
summer with installation of a new system.
Traffic will be directed to the left northbound lane while sensors are added to the right lane. After the concrete cures, traffic will move to the outside lane to enable installation on the inside northbound lane. That shift is expected to take place Wednesday.
Motorists should slow down in anticipation of the reduced lanes and follow the traffic pattern defined by temporary orange barrels.
