Temporary lane closure required on U.S. 95 south of Lewiston beginning Monday
LEWISTON – The left lane of northbound U.S. 95 near Lewiston will close temporarily Monday (June 17) as part of an upgrade to a weigh-in-motion system.

Concrete recently was poured in the highway about one mile south of the Lewiston Port of Entry. The closure will enable contractors to smooth the surface and build a shallow vault to house weigh-in-motion equipment.

When completed, the new weigh-in-motion sensors will provide faster, more accurate weighing of commercial vehicles without slowing their normal highway speed. The new equipment will reduce delays and prevent unnecessary interruptions for vehicles of legally permitted weight.

As part of the $1.3 million project, additional weigh-in-motion equipment will be installed this summer to southbound U.S. 95, where none existed before.

A width limitation of 17 feet will remain in effect for about one month on that segment of the highway.

Additional closures will be required occasionally in both the north- and southbound travel lanes through mid-August.

International Road Dynamics of Saskatchewan, Canada, is the primary contractor with assistance by Quality Electric of Boise and M.L. Albright and Sons of Lewiston.
