I-15, U.S. 20 ramps to close for Melaleuca fireworks in Idaho Falls Thursday (July 4)
RIGBY - Interstate 15 and U.S. 20 ramps will close for the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration fireworks in Idaho Falls Thursday (July 4), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
- The northbound I-15 on-ramp from Broadway Street will close from 10 p.m. until after pedestrian traffic has cleared following the fireworks. Traffic will be detoured along Skyline Drive to Grandview Drive and Exit 119, where motorists may continue along eastbound U.S. 20 or exit onto northbound I-15.
- The northbound I-15 off-ramp at Exit 119 will close from 10 p.m. until after pedestrian traffic has cleared following the fireworks. Idaho Falls traffic will be directed to I-15 Exit 118 and Broadway Street, while traffic eastbound on U.S. 20 will be detoured along northbound I-15 to Exit 143 in Sage Junction and then on eastbound Idaho 33 to Rexburg to reconnect with U.S. 20.
- The westbound U.S. 20 off-ramp to Lindsay Boulevard will close from 6 p.m. until after the fireworks.
FOLLOWING THE FIREWORKS
After the fireworks, Idaho State Police and transportation department crews will temporarily block exits from U.S. 20 onto Lindsay Boulevard, Riverside Drive and eastbound Science Center Drive to reduce traffic congestion, and to protect motorists and pedestrians. Law enforcement personnel may modify the plan and take corrective action if safety issues arise.
- The eastbound U.S. 20 off-ramp to Lindsay Boulevard will close from 6 p.m. until after pedestrian traffic has cleared.
- The eastbound U.S. 20 off-ramp to Fremont Avenue and Riverside Drive will close from 6 p.m. until after pedestrian traffic has cleared.
- The westbound U.S. 20 off-ramp to Fremont Avenue and Riverside Drive will remain open, but traffic will be required to turn north on Fremont Avenue at the bottom of the ramp from 6 p.m. until after pedestrian traffic has cleared
- E Street traffic, southeast of Riverside Drive, will be eastbound only in both lanes to provide an outlet for fireworks-related traffic.
