ITD sealing cracks in road at Front, Myrtle and Broadway prior to micro-seal
BOISE - ITD maintenance crews are sealing cracks in the highway on Myrtle Street, Front Street and Broadway Avenue in preparation for a micro-seal this summer at those same locations.
Crews will work an overnight schedule, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and will require two or three lanes to be closed in the five-lane sections on Front and Myrtle. Work on Broadway will require lane closures on Broadway from Rossi Street to Front.
Crews started yesterday on the south end of Broadway. No work is happening today, as crews have been diverted to repair guardrail from the semi-truck accident on I-84 westbound at Gowen Road this morning.
Crews will resume crack-sealing work tomorrow (Wednesday, July 3), then suspend work through the holiday and weekend, returning Monday night. The project is expected to finish by the end of next week, July 12.
The personnel, equipment and materials for this work will be provided by ITD.
The upcoming micro-seal is comparable to a seal coat but is premixed and applied as a slurry. The micro-seal is often used in higher-traffic areas in place of a seal coat, intended to protect and extend pavement life and provide improved vehicle traction.
