Construction on Idaho 33 (Main Street and 2nd East) in Rexburg starts Monday
RIGBY - Construction on Idaho 33 (Main Street and 2nd East) in Rexburg will begin Monday (July 8), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Work will be completed by Saturday (July 13), with pavement markings for parking stalls scheduled to be added the following week.
Crews will apply a polymer-modified asphalt seal and stripes to Idaho 33 between 12th West and the Madison County Courthouse on Main Street and between Main Street and the railroad crossing on 2nd East.
Work will take place mostly at night, when the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists should anticipate merging traffic and watch for construction workers and equipment.
In preparation for next week’s asphalt sealing, the transportation department replaced broken pavement on Main Street and 2nd East this spring.
The transportation department awarded Intermountain Slurry Seal Inc., of Salt Lake City, the $1.9 million contract to seal coat various stretches of state highway in eastern Idaho this summer. Crews finished seal coating Idaho 33 between U.S. 20 and Newdale July 2.
To avoid disrupting the street festival, parade and dance of the Idaho International SummerFest on Main Street Thursday (July 11), crews will postpone work until midnight following the day's festivities.
