Shoshone highway and sidewalk improvements begin Monday
SHOSHONE – Work begins Monday (July 29) to reconstruct the highway and sidewalks at the junction of U.S. 93 and U.S. 26 at the railroad crossing. The project will impact traffic for the next two months, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The project involves reconstructing the roadway through the junction on both the north and south sides of the crossing. The work also will replace several areas of curb, gutter and sidewalk adjacent to the roadway reconstruction to improve stormwater drainage and comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
Drivers may expect delays, and traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the construction zone. Drivers should use caution and watch for flaggers for the duration of the project.
There is a 10-foot width limit for large trucks. Drivers should consider an alternate route to avoid traffic conflicts.
Valley Paving, of Bellevue, is the contractor for the $388,000 project. Work is expected to be completed by the end of September.
The project included also work by the Union Pacific Railroad to reconstruct the crossing in June. The highway work was delayed to accommodate the Lincoln County Fair this week.
