Work on Lorenzo Bridge on U.S. 20 north of Rigby starts Monday (July 29)
RIGBY - Work on the Lorenzo Bridge on U.S. 20 north of Rigby will begin Monday (July 29), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Maintenance is scheduled to be finished in late September.
Crews will replace expansion joints, beam seats and bearing pads, install keeper plates, seal the deck and waterproof the parapet. The Lorenzo Bridge spans the south fork of the Snake River at milepost 326, which is just south of the border of Jefferson and Madison counties, about four miles north of Rigby.
At times, travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed.
Commercial drivers transporting permitted loads wider than 14 feet need to contact Resident Engineer Wade Allen (208-745-5680) 24 hours in advance for special authorization to pass through the construction zone.
Motorists should watch for construction workers and equipment, and obey all traffic signs.
The transportation department awarded the $700,000 contract to Cannon Builders Inc., of Blackfoot. The contract includes work on nine bridges in eastern Idaho.
