Idaho 6 construction project begins Thursday (Aug. 1) near Potlatch
LEWISTON – A highway maintenance project to repair ruts and extend the life of Idaho 6 near Potlatch in Latah County will begin Thursday (Aug. 1), the Idaho Transportation announced.
Construction is planned between mileposts 14 and 17.
Motorists should expect occasional short-term lane closures, with flagging and possibly the use of pilot cars, primarily during daylight hours. Minor delays of up to 15 minutes are likely during construction. The delay could extend to 30 minutes if motorists encounter more than one flagging operation in the construction area.
The project consists of repairs to rutted wheel paths and a full-width seal coat for the entire length of the project, from Palouse River Road to Meadow Creek Road.
Curve improvement also is planned near milepost 16 to increase its design speed. That will include excavation on the nearby hillside.
Debco Construction, of Orofino, is the contractor for the $1.4 million project.
Completion is expected in early October. A seal coat will follow in 2014.
