RESENDING, corrected: ITD issues permit for transport of oversize module on U.S. 12
(Note: Resending with corrected date. Effective date of permit is Monday, Aug. 5)
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department issued a permit today for the transport of a water purification module on U.S. 12, but advised the shipper the U.S. Forest Service and Federal Highway Administration also have jurisdiction to review the permit.
Earlier this year, U.S. District Court Judge Lynn Winmill ruled the U.S. Forest Service and Federal Highway Administration “have legal jurisdiction to review Idaho’s approvals of mega-loads over Highway 12.”
“The shipper has met Idaho’s criteria to be issued an over-size permit. We have issued that permit so that it now can be reviewed by the two federal agencies,” said Idaho Transportation Department Chief Deputy Scott Stokes.
The permit is effective Monday (Aug. 5) at 10 p.m.
