Speed limit to be reduced on northern section of Eagle Road
BOISE - The speed limit on a short section of northern Eagle Road near the junction with Idaho 44 (State Street) will be reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph Wednesday morning (Aug. 7), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The speed-limit reduction is for the section of Eagle Road from the Boise River North Channel Bridge to the junction with Idaho 44, a distance of about a third of a mile.

The speed reduction follows the recommendations of a recent speed study of the area requested by the city and conducted by ITD on July 22, and communicated with local law enforcement July 31.
The posted limit is a maximum speed motorists can legally travel under ideal roadway and weather conditions. At times motorists are required to travel at speeds lower than the posted limits, such as with icy, snow-covered or slick roads.
"Speed-limit signs cannot replace common sense," said ITD's Southwest Idaho Traffic Manager, Kevin Sablan. "They are intended to supplement - not substitute for - the driver's judgment."
Limits establish a reasonable speed for a particular road under ideal weather conditions. Limits encourage better traffic flow by reducing the variances in speed from one vehicle to the next, enhancing free-flowing movement.
