Micro-seals on Idaho 44 and U.S. 20/26 in Ada County begin Friday
BOISE - About 1.5 miles of Idaho 44 and four miles of U.S. 20/26 will be micro-sealed beginning Friday (Aug. 16) and continuing through early September, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews will remove thermoplastic coatings on the roadway surfaces this week in preparation for the micro-seals.

Crews will work an overnight schedule (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) seven days per week until the project is finished. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on the two highways. Flaggers will direct traffic at the intersections, and delays of up to 10 minutes are possible through the intersections. Drivers might need to find alternate routes. Portable message signs will alert motorists about the work.
The micro-seal is comparable to a seal coat but is premixed and applied as a slurry spray. The micro-seal often is used in high-traffic areas instead of a seal coat, as a way of protecting and extending pavement life and providing better vehicle traction.
Intermountain Slurry Seal, of Salt Lake City, is the contractor on the $1.1 million project.
