Work tonight on Idaho 16 may disrupt traffic after 7 p.m.

BOISE - Work on Idaho 16 tonight (Monday, Sept. 9) may disrupt traffic after 7 p.m. as crews obliterate old roadway lane stripes and install new temporary striping, which will be in place for the next few weeks.

Crews will begin work after the evening commute and must be done and off the road by 6 a.m. tomorrow, in time for the morning commute.

Crews will shift traffic to the west side of Idaho 16 north of Idaho 44 will allow them to build up the elevation of the east side to tie the new alignment into the original alignment, which is approximately 1,000 feet north of Idaho 44.

Concrete barrier will be used to guard the east edge of the roadway at the top of the roadside slope.

Idaho 16 was recently widened on the east side to allow this traffic shift. Paving of the new alignment is expected to take place next week. The new intersection, west of the existing one, is expected to be ready for drivers by the end of October. At that time, traffic will be switched onto the new roadway.
