I-84 bridge work begins today at Heyburn Interchange

HEYBURN – Bridge resurfacing that started today (Monday, Sept. 23) is expected to have minor traffic impacts on Interstate 84 traffic, the Idaho Transportation Department announced

Crews are resurfacing the Heyburn Interchange overpass bridges (Exit 211) between Heyburn and Rupert. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with the left lane closed in each direction. The project should be completed by mid-November.

Half of each bridge structure will be closed while crews remove the driving surface, pour a new concrete surface, and complete other maintenance required for the structures. Access to the on- and off-ramps to I-84 will be maintained throughout the work, but drivers are reminded to use caution for merging traffic.

A 65-mph speed limit and a 14-foot width limit will be in effect through the work zone.

Both bridge projects are under contract with Cannon Builders, of Blackfoot. It is part of the $2.6 million district-wide bridge rehabilitation contract.
