CORRECTION: Repair of I-84 Galloway overpass near Sand Hollow will begin Wednesday with detour
This correction clarifies the detour route: Traffic will need to leave Interstate 84 at Exit 25 (Middleton) and re-enter the freeway at Exit 17 (Sand Hollow), using old U.S. 30.
BOISE - The repair of the Galloway Road Overpass, between Sand Hollow and Purple Sage on I-84, will commence on Wednesday (Oct. 23), requiring overnight detours for westbound traffic until the project finishes the following Tuesday (Oct. 29). Eastbound traffic will not be detoured or restricted.
The bridge is at milepost 21.7. Sand Hollow is at milepost 20 and Purple Sage is at milepost 23.
The overnight detours will be 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekday nights, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends.
The overpass was struck by an excavator being hauled on a trailer late on the afternoon of Sept. 23. Concrete Placing Co, of Boise, is performing the $92,000 repairs, which will be covered by the insurance carrier of the load that damaged the bridge.
