Speed limit changes on U.S. 30 from Murtaugh to Burley begin this week
BURLEY – Drivers need to pay attention for two new speed zones on U.S. 30 between Murtaugh and Burley that begin Wednesday (Nov. 6), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. There will be an increase in speed for a majority of the road section and a short decrease in the area near Murtaugh.
The speed limit change at Murtaugh will reduce the limit to 45 mph for about eight-tenths of a mile beginning near the intersection with 4550 East Road and extending east to near Dry Creek. The speed zone encompasses several residential access points, a convenience store and a church.
The speed limit returns to 55 mph near Dry Creek and will extend about three-quarters of a mile past the Twin Falls Main Canal. Beginning at milepost 238.5, which is west of 4700 East Road in Twin Falls County, the speed will be increased to 65 mph for 13.5 miles, ending between the intersections of Pine Avenue and 500 West Road in Cassia County.
The 55 mph speed limit will remain from milepost 252 to west of Bedke Boulevard. The 45 mph speed zone will extend about one-quarter mile west to encompass the Bedke Boulevard intersection.
The speed limit west of Murtaugh will retain the current 55 mph limit to the city of Hansen.
