Idaho 34 reduced to single lane between Soda Springs and Freedom, Wyo.
POCATELLO - One lane of Idaho 34 between Soda Springs and Freedom, Wyo., was closed today because of a slide that caused part of the lane to sink, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Traffic will be limited to a single lane at a time through the area; signs have been placed at both sides warning motorists of the reduced lanes. Although on-coming traffic should be clearly visible, motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling on the highway, especially at night. The lane reduction is in effect indefinitely.
Crews hope to begin repairs early the week of April 24. The repairs, which may require the addition of a buttress below the affected lane, will take approximately 10 days to complete. Flaggers will control traffic once repair work begins.
