Idaho 55 near Smiths Ferry reopened to two-lane traffic
BOISE - Idaho 55 near Smiths Ferry reopened to two-lane traffic today (May 1) after crews completed repairs to culverts damaged by erosion from water runoff, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The pavement remains wet at the site about 1.5 miles north of Smiths Ferry. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive with caution in the area.

Heavy water runoff from a hill above the North Fork of the Payette River undermined the culverts, poured over the road surface and forced maintenance crews to reduce traffic to one lane.

An additional culvert will be placed under the highway in the area this summer.
