U.S. 30 bridge west of Bliss closed for testing beginning Tuesday

BLISS – Crews will drill and test roadway materials at the U.S. 30 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad west of Bliss, causing the section of road to close for up to three days next week, the Idaho Transportation Department has announced.

Beginning Tuesday (March 4), all traffic using U.S. 30 west from Bliss will be required to detour onto Interstate 84 between Exit 137 and 141 while work is completed. The testing is part of the design process for the reconstruction and replacement of the bridge and crossing scheduled to take place in 2016.

The crew will be on site and the roadway closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The roadway will reopen each day after 5 p.m.

The bridge, located about one mile west of Bliss along the I-84 business loop, was constructed in 1936 and is traversed by approximately 1,500 vehicles each day.
