Work on eastbound I-90 bridge at Pinehurst begins Tuesday

COEUR D'ALENE - Replacement of the eastbound bridge on Interstate 90 at Pinehurst starts Tuesday (April 15) and is expected to finish by October, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The westbound bridge at this location (Exit 45 is a little to the west) will be built next year.

Crews will begin work on the two median crossovers in this area Tuesday. The crossovers will be complete by mid-May, when the old eastbound bridge will be closed and demolished. Both bridge decks are in poor condition, and the steel foundations, also in poor condition, have developed cracks. Both bridges were built in 1965.

One lane of I-90 will remain open in each direction during the work. The eastbound and westbound passing lane will be closed.

Crews will work a Monday-Thursday schedule, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

Traffic will be restricted to a 14-foot width limit, and the speed limit will not be reduced from 55 mph initially, but will drop to 45 mph through the construction zone at a later stage of construction.

Wadsworth Bros. Construction, of Draper, Utah, is the contractor on this $10.5 million project.
