Public meeting is Thursday (May 1) on bridge project that will involve closure of U.S. 95 section

BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department is hosting an open house Thursday (May 1) to provide information on the replacement of the Union Pacific Railroad/U.S. 20-26 Overpass that is close to Parma.

The open house will be from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Parma Rural Fire Protection District Building, 29200 U.S. 95 in Parma.

Those interested in learning about the project are encouraged to attend the open house. Project staff will be available to answer questions, and displays will be available showing detour routes.

The existing bridge has six spans, with piers in the railroad’s right-of-way and in the middle of U.S. 20-26. The new bridge is proposed to have two spans, which would eliminate the piers in the railroad’s right-of-way and the pier in the center of U.S. 20-26.

U.S. 95 will be closed and rebuilt from Sand Road to Shelton Road. The transportation department is planning to replace Sand Creek Bridge as well.

A local detour route will be available for passenger and emergency/maintenance vehicles. Trucks will need to take a longer detour route.

Construction will likely take place no earlier than the fall of 2015, when funds become available. The project may take two construction seasons to complete.

Those with questions about the open house or bridge replacement project can contact Adam Rush at adam.rush@itd.idaho.gov or by phone at (208) 334-8119.
