Del Rio Bridge east of St. Anthony will close for construction starting Monday (May 5)
RIGBY - Construction will close the Del Rio Bridge on the U.S. 20 business loop east of St. Anthony starting Monday (May 5), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The transportation department is replacing the old steel bridge, built in 1931, with a wider and longer one made of concrete. The project is scheduled for completion in October.
Roads leading up to the bridge will remain open, including Sand Creek Road west of the river.
The sportsman's access northeast of the bridge will be closed throughout the project.
Crews will first install temporary piers north of the bridge, which will be used to support the existing truss. This truss will be used to help build the new bridge.
Portable electronic message boards will be placed on U.S. 20 to notify the public of next week’s bridge closure.
The transportation department awarded D.L. Beck Inc., of Rexburg, the $2.46 million contract.
